The long awaited internship money is now in student’s Bank Accounts. Today, the bank accounts for Second year students of Makerere university smiled in a rather odd way as the very much waited internship money slid in.
“I was actually so very broke, I am lucky this money is in my account. I can now go drink some beer…” says Julius a second year student of Psychology at Makerere University.
Finally, the dry spell of brokeness has been kicked out of the lives of second year students at Makerere and the mood to party and spend is one hunid. Tonight, I can bet that all clubs and bars will be fully filled to capacity, because it’s Friday.
Students pay for internship from the time they get into the university until the time they are given internship placement. This is when the internship money paid to the university is released into their accounts. The internship money is often 378,000 shillings which is meant to help students during their internship.
