Drama has ensured at the Nakawa based Makerere University Business School after askaris (who subscribe to the non-teaching staff) took to defiance today morning and bounced lecturers who had showed up to go about with their lectures and duties.
The gate men (askaris) this morning denied lecturers and other administrators access to the university demanding that they also lay down their tools in response to the non-teaching staff strike wave that hit all majority public universities. Students were seen waiting for their lecturers to show up for hours but all in vain.
“We shall not open the gate for any vehicle until our grievances are heard. We shall only open for the Principal if he is coming to solve our problem”, a small gate askari stressed.
Some students that have deadlines to beat before they start examinations have found themselves waiting for more hours and also postponements.
‘My roommate was supposed to meet her supervisor but babe called her (supervisor) and said she was bounced by askaris”, a Berlin resident intimated to this website.
The drama seems to have been planned yesterday evening by the defiant non-teaching staff that are demanding for their pay from the government which has been long over due.
The drone is watching and will keep bringing you as this drama evolves.
