This comes after the office of the Dean of Students failed to keep its pledge of clearing the outstanding balances by the first week of August.

In the wake of the broken promises, the 89th Guild Minister For Students Affairs Ssebandeke Reagan wrote to the Dean of Students expressing disappointment.

“Reference is made to your communication to all government sponsored students through your letter dated Sunday July 16.2023 wherein you clearly stated that you received notification from the university bursar that the money for outstanding payments of recess and internship allowances will be available in the first week of August,2023 and that in the meantime, the university was in the process of finalizing all the mandatory financial processes,” he stated.

“I would like to bring it to your attention that the last working day of the first week of August is tomorrow (4th August 3, 2023) and these payments are due. I hope that the integrity of your communication still holds and if otherwise the fate of students who are commencing with end of recess examinations next week and also those that had based on it to commit to their landlords at their internship sites is considered,” he added.
