Makerere University’s Academic Registrar has announced the commencement of applications for undergraduate programs under the private sponsorship scheme for the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The call is open to Ugandan, East African, and international applicants.
Applicants are required to meet specific academic criteria:
- Possession of the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five passes or its equivalent.
- A minimum of two principal passes at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) obtained at the same sitting.
- For day programs, candidates must have sat for A’ Level in 2023, 2022, or 2020. There are no restrictions on the year of sitting for evening, afternoon, and external programs.
- Detailed information on the weighting system can be accessed through the University’s official website.
Applicants are encouraged to obtain further details from the Undergraduate Admissions Office, Level 3, Senate Building, or visit the University website.
Effective from Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, a non-refundable application fee of Shs. 50,000/= for Ugandans, East Africans, and South Sudanese applicants, or $75 or equivalent for international applicants, plus bank charges, should be paid in any of the banks used by Uganda Revenue Authority.
Candidates with grades X, Y, Z, 7, and 9 in their ‘O’ Level results are not eligible for admission and should refrain from applying.
The application process involves:
- Accessing the Institution’s Admissions URL: https://apply.mak.ac.ug/
- Signing up by clicking on the “REGISTER NOW” button using full name, email, and mobile number. It’s crucial that the applicant’s name matches the one on their supporting academic documents.
- Changing the password sent to the mobile phone and email.
- Filling out the application form by clicking on the “APPLY NOW” button.
- Obtaining a payment reference number by clicking on the “Pay for Form” button.
- Making payment at any bank used by Uganda Revenue Authority.
- For mobile money payment, applicants should dial 2726#, select option 3 for Admission, then option 3 for Pay Fees, and enter the reference number obtained from the Application portal. Payment confirmation requires entering a PIN.
The deadline for receiving applications for undergraduate admissions is Wednesday, May 31st, 2024.
Applicants are strongly cautioned against submitting forged or other people’s academic documents. The Academic Registrar emphasizes severe consequences if such actions are discovered. Additionally, applicants are advised against purchasing documents not originating from the Academic Registrar’s Office, as well as cautioned against agents soliciting additional funds beyond the application fee.
