Ndejje University has successfully defended the Inter University games overall title at the 16th edition of the tourney concluded at Busoga University today, Monday.
The Luweero based institution has garnered a total of 23 medals that included 14 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze beating Uganda Christian University who collected 17 total medals of 5 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze medals coming in second position.
Nkumba University came in third position with 7 medals total, 4 gold, 2 silver and one bronze.
Ndejje were the favorites in football (men), Swimming, Table Tennis, athletics, woodball, darts, badminton, Karate and Handball as they garnered the most medals of all there.
While UCU won gold in Rugby (men), chess, Lawn Tennis, both genders of basketball and netball dethroning former champions Ndejje.
Busitema won gold in the newly introduced Omweso game (male and female), Nkumba University clinched the men volleyball accolade, beach soccer (men), Handball (women) Kampala University won women football while Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) won their only gold at the games in Lawn Tennis.
Now Ndejje University has now won the championships three times in a row – 2011, 2013 and 2015.
However Makerere University by far remains the record winners with 12 massive titles since the games’ inception in 1992.
