The MUBS football pitch that was abandoned to allow for new grass to rejuvenate is soon turning into a complete airfield, Campus Bee has found out.
Of late, two helicopters have made the football pitch their landing site as day in and out they are seen dropping and picking passengers. According to eye witnesses, one chopper is used by a top UPDF official and the other by a city tycoon. We are yet to identify their names.
The tycoon uses deluxe vehicles like Toyota V8s and SUVs with all sorts of flags, while the UPDF official prefers UPDF double cabins as he is always seen in a full combat.
As if to emphasise their acts, the two move in a beefed up company of separate personal body guards. Their convoy of cars always leaves as soon as the choppers fly off.
However, the acts of the two have left students at the Nakawa-based campus suspicious, wondering the motive behind their actions. Most of the students further question their identity and why their security personnel warned them against taking photos.
The tycoon, after landing on Saturday, was spotted giving a Sudanese dollar to some kid who was playing in the pitch.
While speaking to Campus Bee, a Guild minister who preferred anonymity said they had no problem with the choppers landing, since they are away from classrooms and the pitch is not in use as per now.
He added that these choppers may be having permission from the administration to use the pitch. By this, he was referring to a notice on the pitch that warns NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO USE THIS PITCH WHATSOEVER UNLESS PERMISSION IS GRANTED FROM THE ADMINISTRATION.
For now, students remain oblivious of the motive behind the acts of these guys, with many having numerous questions that have no answers. But Campus Bee will keep you updated.
