As Makerere students were still jubilating about getting their academic transcripts early, the University’s Vice Chancellor has today morning revealed that majority of students set to graduate this January still have tuition balances.
According to Prof Barnabas Nawangwe, no debtors will be allowed to graduate come 19th January next year. Through his social media platforms, Nawangwe urged all students to clear their debts with the University to avoid disappointment.
“It has come to my knowledge, that many students who are due for graduation in January 2018 have debts with the university. I wish to urge all such students to clear with the university immediately to avoid disappointment. No debtors will be allowed to graduate and no addenda to the graduation book will be entertained,” Nawangwe posted.
Makerere University has been very strict with fees defaulters lately throughout the examination processes where by the university deployed police officers to block tuition defaulters from entering the examination centers few weeks ago. The management is likely to use the same procedure on graduation day slated for early next year.
