Two students of Makerere University have won themselves Shs 1 million in cash after participating in the Unleash your panther campaign, an initiative of Mixa Teens and Chano8 Conekt, products of SMSONE Uganda. Various innovators participated in the campaign before sorting out the top participants that came up with mind blowing ideas.
Kahuma Clare, a 1st year software engineering student of Makerere University together with her colleague Njolima Concepta (Electrical Engineering student) came up with an idea of reducing violence and crimes by developing an App dubbed ‘AVC MOBI APP’ which will be used to curb down the ever increasing crime rates in Uganda. The Engineering first years also participated in the Unleash your panther campaign, an initiative intended to help young people solve the society’s problems through coming up with ideas that can solve these problems.
“My advice would be, take all the criticisms as positive criticism, whenever they tell you something is wrong just work on it and build yourself to become better. This is not the end of the journey, we’ve not even lived a quarter of our lives, thank you so much” Kahuma Clare, one of the winners revealed shortly after receiving the Shs 1 million in the absence of her colleague.
The second winner was Ngabirano Julius, who walked away with Shs 750,000 in cash while the two first year Law students of Makerere University won Shs 500,000 as the third winners. Like we earlier reported, Kitimbo Victor and Brian Lavezzi Law students of Makerere University invented a talent promotion app intended to push talents of singers, cooks, dancers, artists, soccer players, actors, designers, models, speakers, writers, poets among others.
At the awarding ceremony that was held at Nawab Asian Bistro, Acacia Rooftop, all the top participants were given certificates for taking part in the Unleash your panther campaign, as well as opportunities for mentorship from Outbox with the help on Chano8 Conekt.
