Monday, the 22nd October 2018 went down in the history of the Law Development Center (LDC) as the official launch of the LDC Eden Campus, Mbarara, in an event that took place at the campus main hall.
The campus started operation on the 24th September when the academic year 2018/2019 commenced.
The event was attended by invited guests, including, the Deputy Attorney General Hon. Mwesigwa Rututana, who was the chief guest, the administration of LDC, the professional advisers, the pioneer students of the bar, and a few parents who were able to make it for the event, lasting about 2 hours until midday, a period during which the campus classes were cancelled.
The guest speaker congratulated the students upon being the pioneer students of the campus before going ahead to officially open the campus.
In his speech to the students, the Director LDC, Mr. Frank Nigel Othembi encouraged the students not to have regrets for being posted to the campus emphasizing that they were a lucky lot, and stated that they will not be “academically disadvantaged” being at the campus. Something he always stresses in any address to the Mbrarara campus students.
“Nobody is going to be academically disadvantaged by attending the Mbarara Eden Campus,” he also informed the students of how the next branches, Mbale and Lira LDC campuses, will be opening soon.
At the end of the event, the students were treated to a pool party and a dinner at Lakeview Resort Hotel in Mbarara town, a luxury the students from Kampala campus only wished they were the posted to the campus.
