Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) has graduated 2261 students during their 27th graduation ceremony. Out of all the graduands, 1117 students are from Main campus in Mbale, 867 are from Kampala campus at Kibuli, 169 are from Females’ campus Kabojja and 108 are from Arua campus in Arua.
Overall, 1131 of the graduands are male while female graduands are 1130. On the awards, the Prince Badru Kakungulu award which is given to the best academic performer went to Arafat Ssekitoleko, a Bachelor of Sharia student from Main campus who managed a CGPA of 4.98.
The Alumni award which is given to best student irrespective of religion went to Faiza Nurdeen, a Bachelor of Business Studies student from Females campus who managed a CGPA of 4.86 while the International Islamic Charitable Organization award which is given to best Muslim student went to Hawa Juma, a Bachelor of Food Science and Nutrition student from Main campus who managed a CGPA of 4.51.
Dr Halima Wakabi Akbar, the IUIU Academic Registrar, said the graduands are well baked ready to deliver in their various areas.
“We have a full unit that monitors the teaching and learning to ensure that the students are learning. We have strengthened our system by ensuring that now there daily feedback of who has taught and now,” she said.
According to the academic registrar, the university has a special approach to make sure that students are being taught the right content.
“We have quality assurance system in place which look moderation of examinations and also look at moderation of marking. This gives an assurance that what we are doing is reflecting to what the students are learning. We are very confident that these graduands will make an impact in their respective communities.”
The Academic Registrar added that IUIU is built on morality and Integrity because intellectuals with good academic papers without moral aspect cannot serve diligently in their communities.
