The Ministry of Health has started the process of admission of medical interns for the Academic Year 2020/2021.
According to a General Notice issued by the Director of General Health Services Dr. Henry Mwebesa, the Ministry has issued guidelines to follow in the admission of the interns to enable quality and smooth management.
“All prospective medical interns should ensure that they get Temporary Registration from their respective professional training councils and apply for training by August 21st, 2020.” One of the guidelines issued by Dr Mwebesa read.
He tasked all the professional councils/boards to compile all the names of the prospective applicants and hand them over to the internships committee by August 31st, 2020 for smooth management.
“The Ministry of Health has the mandate to deploy medical interns to available training centres across the country according to the capacity of the training centres and the availability of the trainers.” Mwebesa further said.
He also alerted the would-be interns that no applications will be received at the offices of the Ministry of Health.
In the letter, Dr Mwebesa informs all the applicants and the professional councils to ensure that the process is fastened so as to enable the commencement of internship by October 1st, 2020.
