Busitema University Natural Products and Drugs Discovery Research Group (BUNaPReG) has won a grant and received funding from the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MoSTI) and The Presidential Scientific Initiative on Epidemics (PRESIDE), worth UGX 450m.
The grant, Campus Bee has learnt, is meant to undertake an emergency research project aimed at development of a COVID-19 Herbal Medicine Remedy.
The Project will be housed in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at Busitema University Faculty of Health Sciences, in collaboration with Uganda Virus Research Institute and other strategic partners.
The Group is composed of members ranging in different expertise, including professors and students. The team is comprised of; Dr Samuel Baker Obakiro, Prof Paul Waako, Dr Gavamukulya Yahaya, Dr Moses Andiima, Banson John Barugahare, Dr Mukhama Peter Kiondo, Kiyimba Kennedy, Owor Richard Oriko, among others.
