Simon Peter Wankandya, a lawyer and former Makerere University Guild Representative Councillor (GRC) for the School of Law, has been duly nominated for LC3 Councillor of Muluka III in the university.
Formerly wearing dreadlocks at the School of Law (a very unusual sight then and now), Wankandya was the Guild Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs in Makerere’s 81st Guild House.
“I’m glad to inform you all that I was duly nominated for the position of LC3 Councillor for Muluka III Makerere University. I humbly seek your support and I’m firm that we shall emerge victors.” Wankandya declared on his Facebook page.
A former resident of Nsibirwa Hall (Northcote), Mr. Wankandya seeks to represent Muluka III that consists of Nsibirwa Hall, Nkrumah Hall, Africa Hall and Mitchell Hall in the Kawempe Division Council.
Previously, in an interview with Campus Bee, he said that his campaign is benchmarked on transparency & inclusive leadership. The People Power candidate said his leadership will be one that works for everyone.
“The constituents will be involved and have a say in their governance. I will advocate for fairness and equality in service delivery to everyone. The problems of Makerere are beyond party lines, so I am for them and they are for me. People Power, Our Power.” He said.
WASP, as he is fondly known was nominated under the Democratic Party (DP) but he says he believes in the People Power ideology and will align himself with Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) for President in 2021.
