Kawempe South Member of Parliament aspirant Roy Ssemboga has revealed that Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi advised him to drop out of his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery course to focus on strengthening People Power.
The former Makerere University guild president, who is said to be one of the founders of the pressure group said the motive was to focus on groundwork as People Power established structures across the country.
“When we started People Power, it required some of us to be full-time on the ground. We sat me and my friend Bobi and agreed that he suspends his Law course and I suspend mine for the betterment of this struggle,” Roy Ssemboga stated.
As a result, he didn’t go ahead with his medical internship and was unable to graduate from Makerere University.
Roy revealed that he often slept for only two hours a night while identifying coordinators across the country, and doing everything to make sure that People Power is where it is.
He was recently denied the National Unity Platform (NUP) flagbearer ticket in the Kawempe South parliamentary race, however, this hasn’t deterred his passion for People Power.
