The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) says its 30th Graduation Ceremony will take place in the early days of June, 2022.
This was noted by the Rector of the university, Professor Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda.
“The next graduation ceremony will take place in June, 2022. We will communicate the exact date soon but it will be in the early days of June,” Professor Gyagenda said.
The Rector said , the university has invited the Secretary General of the Islamic Organisation Cooperation (OIC) His Excellency Hissein Brahim Taha to grace the occasion.
“We have invited the Secretary General of OIC to grace the occasion. Let’s hope he will come and celebrate with us ,” he said.
Students (Graduands) have been enthusiastic to know the exact dates of their great day. According to information that Campus Bee established, the university planned to hold the ceremony in March, 2022 but it was later postponed to May, 2022.
The university is expected to graduate over 2000 students from its four campuses namely, Main Campus in Mbale city , Kampala Campus in Kampala city, Females’ Campus in Wakiso district and Arua Campus in Arua city.
The Islamic University in Uganda was opened in the year 1988 by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) under a bilateral agreement between the Government of Uganda (GOU) and the OIC.
In 1990, the Parliament of Uganda enacted a law, The Islamic University in Uganda Act (cap 131, Laws of Uganda), formally establishing the University in Uganda.
