Robert Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine, the principal of the National Unity Platform (NUP) has urged all opposition factions not to blame NUP for the murder of Bewatte.
Bewatte Betunguura, a second year law student at UCU Kampala campus lost his life during a scuffle that ensued among NUP and FDC supporters.
The two opposition camps have been blaming each other for having been the cause of Bewatte’s death amidst police investigations.
Bobi Wine said, in a Facebook post that he is disturbed by the fact that change seekers have began the blame game, with his party being highly pinned to Bewatte’s murder.
“One of the most disappointing thing about this incident was seeing some people who claim to be fighting for the same objective as us, trying to blame the murder on the NUP camp, even before investigations could start. Well, I was not surprised by this, given that the regime uses every opportunity to divide those who oppose it.” Bobi Wine said in a statement.
“What was more unfortunate, however, was the speed with which fellow comrades from other change-seeking forces quickly tried to blame the death on the NUP camp, despite all indicators that the murder could even have been carefully planned in order to achieve the objectives I have highlighted above.” He added.
Bobi Wine further condemned the violence, and tasked all concerned authorities to fairly investigate the murder case of Betunguura.
