Law Development Center (LDC) is in preparation for its 49th graduation ceremony that is slated for July 29th, 2022.
However, the graduands who are expected to be excited are rather not. This is because the 49th LDC graduation will be virtual, and yet majority were hoping for a purely physical ceremony.
The institution has come out to justify why it opted for a virtual (or blended) graduation ceremony, citing Covid-19 as the main concern.
According to a statement by the institution’s public relations officer Frank Obonyo, there is need to ensure health and safety amidst the uncertain Covid-19 situation in the country.
Only the best performing students are expected to attend the graduation physically.
Frank Obonyo further clarified that no student has been charged twice the graduation fee as it had been alleged.
Obonyo says students pay only UGX 200,000 as graduation fee, and the same amount for their transcripts.
With the break out of Covid-19, higher institutions of learning resorted to virtual graduation.
As the situation toned down, institutions returned to the normal (Physical) graduation, but this seems not to be the case for Uganda’s Law Development Center.
Over 5,000 students are expected to graduate at LDC’s 49th graduation ceremony.
