Makerere University is mourning the demise of their own senior Lecturer, Dr Peter Walekhwa who passed on after he was admitted at Mulago Hospital on Tuesday.

The deceased was a staff member in the department of Agribusiness and Natural Resources Economics at the School of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES).

The cause of the death is still unclear, however a section of reports that Campus Bee has excavated indicate that the deceased allegedly succumbed to the deadly Coronavirus since he also had an underlying hypertension complication.

Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) Chairperson – Dr Deus Kamunyu Muhwezi (PhD) described the late Dr Walekhwa as a promising academic that will be hard to replace.“Dr Walekwa was enthusiastic about the growth of MUASA Social Support Fund.

He was a gentle soul and loved Makerere University…. He was a young and promising academic that will be hard to replace” Dr Kamunyu wrote in an announcement.

Burial arrangements to be communicated soon. May the soul of the deceased Rest in Eternal Peace.
