It was to supposedly help her boyfriend carry a wedding gift to his brother that an un-suspecting Brenda went with Bonny (her boyfriend) in front of family and friends. Standing at least two steps behind, Brenda patiently waited to be unloaded after the speech Bonny was giving. Hearing Bonny introduce her to people as his girlfriend was simply something her sweet boyfriend can do until she heard him pop the big question; “Will you marry me?”
“My heart thumped so hard, I felt myself swooning. The only thing I seemed able to do was clasp my hands tightly in front of me. After a while, I realized the people looking at me in total silence were waiting for my answer and that’s when I heard an unfamiliar small voice saying “Yes”. I now know it was mine for people started clapping and murmuring at my boyfriend…sorry my fiancée grasped me in a big bear hug. I couldn’t believe his nerve. He was so collected whereas I could barely stand on with all the starring.” Brenda narrates
Bonny who lives in Iona, Michigan where he trains in Private Piloting at The School of Missionary Aviation Technology was back in the country to attend his brother’s wedding. It is then that the 23 year old decided to grab the chance and make it official with his old time girlfriend, Brenda Namakula, a fresh graduate from UMCAT and presenter of Bwakedde, a morning show at Star Tv.
“I had planned the proposal before I came back. My brother’s wedding just gave me a platform to officially make a commitment in front of God and people. We are getting married next year.” Bonny confided.
When asked why he would get married so young when he has his life stretched ahead of him, Bonny’s simple answer was; “My life is Brenda.” Maybe fairy tales exist after all. Bonny and Brenda met in 2009 in F.3 making then count over 6 years together. Teenage love is probably really love, not infatuation.
