Today is the very first segment of gossip girl and the featured story is juicy. Who better to serve it to you like Campus bee. Here goes. Nkumba University is one of the many prestigious universities in Uganda and just like the rest, Nkumba was looking to widen the horizon by opening a new campus, which it did. Their newest campus being the Kampala campus. The University was launched on the 15th July 2015 with Prof. Gordon Wavamunno, the Chancellor opening up the ceremony.
Meanwhile the building where Nkumba is located was the former UCU Kampala campus’s home. So UCU students and staff had to vacate asap so that Nkumba’s scheduled program would kick start. This makes sense, right? My building, my students, my staff, so vacate asap! But Nkumba took it to another level by literally rushing UCU students to vacate. UCU’s students where still occupying the rooms but Nkumba had already put up signs, advertised and all that. The launching too happened amidst UCU lectures, you can imagine!
With all this, UCU finally vacated the premises and Nkumba moved in. Nkumba was to kick off on 15th August 2015 but has failed to because students have not enrolled at the campus. Or at least not in reasonable numbers. The seats are currently being occupied with dust because the student turn up was like that of a Sisco show. Rumor has it that the situation is so appalling that they had to rent out the top floor to some Sudanese.
They chased the UCU administration out like thieves just to enroll empty seats. You do get the irony? Anyways we are routing for Nkumba and all will go well, eventually. The University is located on Kabaka- anjagala road, Mengo incase you want tp enroll at the university.
