Gossip girl is back with another hitter! A story about a group of kids that think they are rich enough to be called the Rich Kids of Kampala. Don’t cringe your face due to the self entitled arrogance in this group’s name though. I too had to roll my eyes when I heard of the group but well maybe there’s some truth to this name; at least for some of its members.
The name obviously comes from the E network show Rich Kids of Beverly Hills but come on, these kids are close to peasants in comparison with the Beverly Hills kids. Though the lavish spending done by these kids is not your ordinary spending by University students. These guys go all out and leave nothing to the imagination from superb vacations to expensive posh parties. Luckily there are always envious prying sources ready to kiss and tell. The group has boys and girls. The boys are; Mayoga Ronnie, Kaye Ronald, Darline Desmond, Meddy Matovu and David Kalungi.
Mayoga is apparently a son to one of the igwez of the Kwagalani group, Desmond has always been a rich brat since his primary days so the boy was born into this wealth. Meddy is also known as a big time spender though we don’t know where his money comes from. The rest not much is known but they are in close ties with the three and we all know one thing, the rich like to stick together.
These boys are all in school except for Desmond. His business was booming and so he chose to give education the middle finger for he has what he was studying for. These boys sleep at Olympia hostel in Kikoni, so those that know them closely or stick their noses in the right direction know of their apparent wealth.
The group has girls too. The number of girls is not clarified because you know how people want to pretend to have money yet hustle yebalisa. Kamaliza Shamim and Shamim Nabyesero aka Ismail Oskie kept being mentioned by sources. Kamaliza has the rich persona because of her family and as for Shamim, she’s Kamaliza’s lap dog. Shamim is not broke though, her family does hold it’s own but not that well to buy this girl the latest smartphones and pay for her lavish lifestyle.
So rumour has it her bestie Kamaliza gives her handouts that help her to stay relevant in the group. Occasional money and worn out brazillian pieces usually do the trick. That’s nothing to be ashamed of though, she friended up and now has rich friends that can spoil her. So she’s basically a rich girl too. These rumours may as well be stirred up by haters but we all know there’s no smoke without fire.
