Meet Anna Kiwanuka, a third year Journalism and Mass Communations student from Makerere University who has found a means to make some extra bucks to pay her own javas meals. Her business is selling purses/wallets to the girls at Mak that seek to achieve the glamorous boujee look. So as some of you are out there waiting on some ka money so that you can change your hair, Anna is changing hers on impulse.
She has been doing this business for one semester so far and she managed to start it through her elder sister who decided to give her a means to earn even more upkeep, instead of always calling her up when she is broke. Anna resides in Mary Stuart and this is her main business hub. She tells of how she gets the purses to sell.
“I go from door to door in hall telling the girls what I have to offer and some buy, while others give reference to a friend.”
She majorly relies on word of mouth as her means of marketing and also incorporates the use of social media to get her business across.
One would wonder how she is able to balance class and the business. Well, Anna has made the lecture room her shop as well. She carries some purses to class so as to widen her base and also get some of the guys to buy for their ladies.
Anna says that she is highly motivated by making money. Every penny she makes pushes her to work harder towards multiplying it. So ladies, if earning that money is not coming along nice, please do pick a leaf from our Campus Hustler this week.
Anna is highly sociable, associating herself with people from all walks of life without discrimination and this has helped her get to even the least expected of customers. As Anna is doing, ladies learn to do too. Next time you have some extra cash/an opportunity, start up something instead of spending it to start life styles you cannot sustain.
