Growing up, we thought we would study and reach the university, graduate and start earning a lot of money that would solve all our life problems at once. We were mostly wrong and life is all about that hustle. Even the jobs we get cannot meet our needs satisfyingly.
Six students from Makerere University have insisted they will not rest until they secure the bag. Aside their studies, they started an Ushering Agency that they dubbed Sparkling Ushers to earn extra income for themselves.
Aaron Kyagaba, Ann Daisy Ayebare, Annataria Kamanzi, Viola Nasasiira, Mariam Ainembabazi, and Edwig Boonabakama have been ushering at events for close to a year now and they have not regretted their decision to partake it.
“If you stay comfortable in this Uganda, you can never prosper. Our times are about hustling and trying to make ends meet. That is precisely why we started ushering” Ayebare told Campus Bee.
She attributes their strides so far to being friendly and close to as many people as they can afford to reach because the success of their business depends on connections.
“We call ourselves sparkling because that is what we bring to events. A few moments with us and your guests will be lively, smily and genuinely happy to have us around. That is the first success for any event” Ayebare added.
They see themselves forming a fully fledged ushering agency in Uganda very soon with capacity to usher at any event around the country with ease. What started as a side gig, may be a source of income for many in the future.
