Today you’ll have many laugh at your hustle but one thing that you’ve got to believe in is your own self and the ability to succeed.
Meet Komugisha Shivan the beauty with brains hailing from Uganda Christian University. She pursued a Bachelor’s degree in public Administration and management but has chosen to believe in herself and her make-up business sidelining her profession. Shivan operates a make-up business that handles bridal and other elegance make up at various functions.
Starting off with little savings from her pocket money, Shivan set out to invest into what many dreaded and today she is grateful for the risk taken.
“I got the finances off my small savings from the pocket money I used to be given by my parents to start the make-up business and we do makeup for all functions as desired by my clients,” she starts.
Her motivation to venture into a business as such dates back to her profound love for beauty and elegance.
“I was motivated by my desire to look good. So I wanted to help my friends look better through makeup and its this desire that led me to the platform to help society realise their full potential in beauty,” says the makeup artist.
Challenges
The makeup business is not one people need on a daily. Shivan is not far away from the waves of challenges that have come along with her makeup business.
A sad Shivan tells Campus Bee that some clients take her services on credit and they don’t pay at all while some of her friends who would have somewhat supported her want makeup free services. She has also had a fair share of discouragement from some people who were against the entire idea.
Achievements
Like any hustle that one carries out with self belief and a vision, Shivan has a thing or two to thank the hustle for.
“I have managed to expand my clientele base and as well as increase capital, purchase other makeup products for sale. This business has helped me pay for my rent and part of my tuition,” a jovial Shivan intimates to Campus Bee.
Asked how much she milks from her business, Shivan told this reporter that on a good day she can make up to a tune of shs200,000 and on a bad day she parts with shs40,000 or less.
The flamboyant diva loves keeping it optimistic in life and she solely believes that she will make it big. “The things that keep me moving is my unchangeable faith in God, persistent determination and my best friends that keep encouraging me as well,” says a calm Shivan.
She adds: “I am grateful to God that I’m a Bright student and other advantage is most of my clients are weekend based.”
Shivie Shive as commonly referred to by her clients hopes to someday expand further on her clientele base and as well as create employment opportunities for her fellow youth.
“The road to the business is not a smooth one. Sometimes there are ups and downs; sometimes there is no enough capital, sometimes clients but still I have managed to persevere.” she advises.
