Creativity has made it rain for Timothy Akolamazima, a third year MAK student of Population Studies whose passion for fashion keeps him going. Timothy started out with a boutique in Wandegeya during his first year but later closed it up during his second year due to the stiff competition in the area.
After the closure, he realized and decided to manipulate the smart phone era by borrowing the social media platforms. He opened various fashion groups on the different social media platforms but has so far focused mainly on WhatsApp. He put emphasis on honesty, improved image quality and also used the loopholes in other businesses to grow for example, he focuses on customer satisfaction than sales and most importantly he has learnt on the job especially the specifications of his type of business.
According to him, his online business is more flexible since it reaches to many people, that is, those within Kampala and also those that are far away. On a good day he brings in about 200,000 shs which cater for his own personal upkeep and savings. His business started with a capital of 2,000,000 shs which came from his mother and its current net worth is about 30,000,000. Timothy has a personal ware house within Campus at Quarry Flats from which he offers free delivery services to clients within campus but however charges a transport fee for delivery to places that are a bit far away from the University depending on your location.
His major challenges have been; most people do not know their sizes and so sometimes clothes fail to fit upon delivery, however he usually carries one or more items so that just in case he has an alternative and the client has other options to choose from. However, he tries his best to balance books and work considering it is not as easy as it seems.
