It does not take the biggest things to stand out, build your story and start working on your legacy as early as now. Starting young is the best way to dig into your treasures. Meet Nabukeera Lillian a transport and logistics MUBS student defying odds and reaping big from make up. Here is her story.
What inspired you?
My love for makeup dates from way back. It has been something I have always done since childhood. In fact I consider it as a hobby.
Where did you get capital to start?
Basically I started with my own cosmetics, trying on friends and relatives.
Where do you operate from and at what price is your makeup?
I do not have a permanent place to operate from per now since I work on people from my hostel mostly but I am mobile. I bring my services to you, depends on where you are. I’m just a phone call away. My last price is 15000 so I usually charge 15k and above.
What benefits have you got from being a makeup artist?
The most important is that the money I have got so far has helped me in paying my tuition. Secondly I have been able to meet many new people. Isn’t that how networks are built?
Any challenges? How do you balance work and school?
I haven’t really found any major challenges. Since my classes start in the evening, I get time to work on my clients during day and full time during weekends.
Where do you see yourself in about 5 years from now?
A record breaker!!!
What would you say to the young people that want to stand out?
It’s all about self belief and determination. You need to believe in yourself because no one will do that for you but remember to always put God first. Now all this will not work out if you do not focus.
