Derrick Lumansi is a third year student at Makerere University pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Chemistry. Yes it’s hard to balance chemistry and fashion but his dream has always been to improve on the dressing style of Ugandans by integrating it with culture and unique trends.
The brand name Ricnic comes from his name Der(ric)k where ric is the name of the founder of the brand to mean marking in, sharing, working in teams and having fun while at it. He is a personal stylist for all your kinds of wear starting from T-shirts all the way to dinner dresses. He also designs clothes for all genders, all ages and all sizes, no one is left out.
He started his fashion dream in July 2017 after observing that most preferred brands were imported and basing on the fact that the resources to make these same brands were available in Uganda, he got to work.
The Ricnic brand started as an online shop vending streetwear branded with “RICNIC” and at this time he was dealing in shirts, sweatshirts, jumpers and sweatpants. The brand has seen so much success since then as now he makes custom made party and gown dresses for ladies, shoes and accessories.
He is generally a one stop shop for all your fashion needs. He is very committed to his work and his customers are really satisfied with his work. At school he makes a timetable for work and school to ensure that he has time for both and balances them without letting one overtake the other.
