In a bid to enhance the capacity of development practitioners in Uganda, the UK Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) has announced the sponsorship of 10 scholarships for the UK Open University Master of Science (MSc) in Global Development. This three-year distance learning course, set to commence in November 2024, will focus on skills for managing development, with a particular emphasis on strengthening peace, security, and governance.
Empowering Development in Uganda
For Uganda, this initiative holds significant promise in advancing the skills of development professionals, particularly in the realms of peacebuilding, security enhancement, and governance improvement. The course, taught by the esteemed Open University (U.K.), will be locally managed by Kulika Uganda, a registered not-for-profit organization boasting over three decades of experience in scholarship administration.

This MSc program offers participants the opportunity to:

Eligibility Criteria for Applicants

- Be Ugandan nationals.
- Be employed by a development agency—NGO, government, or private sector—with a minimum of two years’ experience working on development issues within Uganda.
- Possess a good undergraduate degree with a score of at least 2.1, preferably in a field related to development.
- Demonstrate strong motivation and a clear commitment to local and national development.
