An event to answer your interests is underway this December.
Pollicy and the Collaboration in International ICT Policy for Eastern and Southern Africa (CIPESA) are once again excited to bring you the latest in civic technology in Uganda, but this time, with a focus on data and design. Pollicy is a civic technology organization focused on using technology and data to improve public service delivery in Uganda.
As issues of data ownership, digital security, censorship become more pertinent in our society, so does the need to appropriately harness the benefits of big data. Through a series of interesting panel discussions, lightning talks and a hands-on design training, we will walk you through how data can be used to revolutionize how citizens and governments interact for mutual benefit.
At the event slated for 5th December at the Design Hub Kampala, participants are set to be treated to a thrilling day coupled with talks, networking and a workshop to learn more about service delivery. There will be a Panel discussion on “Who own’s Citizen’s Data? Ethics, Privacy and Digital Security for Civic Technology Organizations”. Thereafter, we shall have lightning talks on “Harnessing Big Data to Improve Service Delivery”. Before we dive into the Service Delivery Workshop, there will be Lunch and participants will get an opportunity to Network.
In the Workshop session, Design without Borders, a design powerhouse will introduce participants to the concept of service design and how to incorporate elements of service design into their work.
As the next generation of technology leaders, we are interested in fostering the civic technology community within Uganda through the lens of data ethics and design principles. Come network with civic technologists, data experts, statisticians, government workers, private companies and many more in a fun, exciting setting.
