In a bid to foster deeper understanding and collaboration in international relations, the European Union (EU) Delegation to Uganda has announced an enticing opportunity for young graduates interested in political affairs. The Graduate Trainee Program, set to commence in October 2024, promises a dynamic experience within the Political Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation.
This program aims to provide a comprehensive insight into the workings of a diplomatic mission while contributing to the representation of EU interests and values in Uganda. Successful applicants will embark on a traineeship lasting up to six months, engaging in a variety of tasks geared towards enhancing political understanding and cooperation.
Among the primary responsibilities, trainees will undertake research and analysis, aiding in the drafting of analytical reports on policies and current affairs. They will also play a pivotal role in supporting the organization of events hosted by the Delegation and attending external meetings and events to provide insightful reports.
To qualify for this esteemed opportunity, applicants must hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree in fields such as political science, social science, journalism, or economics. Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is a prerequisite, along with a demonstrated interest in EU affairs and international relations.
Moreover, candidates with additional qualifications such as ongoing or completed Master’s studies in international relations, knowledge of Uganda’s parliamentary affairs, or experience in analyzing economic and sociological data will be highly regarded. Strong initiative, research, writing, and analysis skills are essential, as well as the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team.
Interested individuals are invited to submit their applications, including a detailed Europass curriculum vitae (CV), a cover letter explaining their interest in the EU traineeship, and a completed application form, to DELEGATION-UGANDA-RECRUITMENT@eeas.europa.eu. The subject of the email should be clearly marked as “Funded Traineeship – Name/Acronym of the Section.”
It’s crucial for applicants to familiarize themselves with the dedicated website and general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship before applying. Selected trainees will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses, while all travel, visa, insurance, and accommodation costs are to be borne by the trainee.
As the application deadline approaches on May 15, 2024, candidates are urged to seize this unique opportunity to contribute to EU-Uganda relations and gain invaluable experience in the field of international diplomacy.
