A lot of individuals believe working for the United Nations comes with a university degree. However, the real truth is that you can apply for UN jobs without a university degree as long as you meet the skills and experience requirements.

If the idea of making a global impact excites you and you have the right attitude, the UN likely has a job for you. In fact, with the rise of digital transformation across the UN system, tech skills like data entry, digital communication, and IT support are in high demand even for applicants without formal academic qualifications.

Can You Really Work at the UN Without a Degree?

Yes. While many UN roles ask for a bachelor’s or master’s degree, there are several positions that focus more on:

  • Relevant work experience
  • Specific skills or languages
  • Field-based knowledge
  • Certifications or vocational training

These are often listed as G-level (General Service) or FS (Field Service) jobs, and sometimes consultancy roles.
