The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) is calling on young Ugandans to apply for a general recruitment exercise to induct 9627 regular forces into the Infantry. This crucial recruitment drive will commence on 01 July 2024 and conclude on 14 July 2024.
Recruitment Procedure
Aspiring candidates wishing to join the regular force must follow these steps:
- Recommendations: Candidates must secure recommendations from their local leaders, including LCI, LCII, and LCIII chairpersons, as well as GISO and DISO officials.
- Application Submission: After obtaining the necessary recommendations, candidates should submit their application forms to the office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for registration.
- Application Collection: The UPDF collection teams will collect the registered applications and submit them to the office of Joint Staff Human Resource Management for shortlisting.
- Shortlist Publication: Successful applicants will be notified via district and city notice boards, instructing them to appear at designated recruitment centers for final interviews.
The recruitment will be based on the projected population figures of each district and city in Uganda, ensuring a fair distribution of recruitment quotas.

Selection Criteria
To be eligible for recruitment, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship: Must be a Ugandan citizen with an original National Identity Card.
- Medical Fitness: Must be medically fit and ready to undergo medical and body fitness tests.
- Age: Must be between 18 and 22 years old.
- Education Standard: Must have completed S.4 (UCE) between 2020 and 2023, with passes in English and Mathematics.
- Application Endorsements: Application letters must be signed by LCI, LCII, and LCIII chairpersons, as well as GISO or DISO and RDC.
- Residency and Conduct: Must be residents of the area, disciplined, and have no criminal record.
