As debates continue taking over University politics, today’s Guild presidential debate at Makerere Main Hall has brought up a U-turn in the race.
Organized by Milege, UNIFOG and Conrad Adaneur Stiftung, today’s debate was attended by only 7 out of the 12 candidates.
Just a day to the elections (Friday 7th April), candidate Kazungu James has withdrawn from the race to form an alliance withNRM leaning independent candidate, Zilitwawula Abdul Kareem.
“We share the same ideologies so if I join him and we win, we shall form a better Makerere,” said Kazungu whose ulterior motives for withdrawal are still unclear.
