Four aspiring candidates for 2021 Presidential Elections have so far been verified and cleared by the electoral commission to stand in the upcoming general election.
Those verified are Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (NRM), Mwesigye Fred (Independent), Tumukunde Henry Kakurugu (Independent) & Kalembe Nancy Linda (Independent).
Paul Bukenya the acting spokesperson for the electoral commission, says that verifying supporters of other 18 aspiring candidates is ongoing.
According to Bukenya, some of the signatures submitted by candidates do not reflect in the EC registers and they are being investigated. Other aspirants who have submitted signatures include; Cavendish Law student, Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu (National Unity Platform), Patrick Oboi Amuriat (FDC) and Gen. Mugisha Muntu of (Alliance for National Transformation) among others.
The Electoral Commission will on November 2nd and 3rd carryout the nomination exercise for presidential aspirants. The ruling NRM party in particular, has organized to present its candidate, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on day one of the exercise.
