Over the weekend, the students of St Lawrence University (SLAU) exercised their voting rights of electing new Guild leaders.
The guild presidential race which attracted several candidates was won by a one Elijah Mutabazi to become the 14th guild president of St. Lawrence university.
Mutabazi pursues a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and mass communication majoring in Luganda news anchoring. Before being elected as SLAU guild president, Mutabazi has won several awards in different categories with the recent being crowned as the best news anchor in Luganda language in inter-university media challenge competitions.
In his speech after the victory, Mutabazi thanked SLAU students for entrusting him with the guild president position and promised them to front their needs in the university council and preached the spirit of togetherness.
‘’Let’s forget the differences that we had then during election period and open a new page to agree with each other. Because we all have different thoughts and our perspectives are also different from itself, so to disagree with someone on his idea or thought isn’t something new neither it has started with us,’’ He advised.
