Mayira Stuart, a third-year medical student at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) has cleared air on allegations that he will stand as an independent candidate after losing party primaries to Mugenyi Jastus earlier this week.
The duo yearned to contest on the National Unity Platform ticket to ease their way of becoming the 32nd Guild President of MUST which prompted the NUP chapter at MUST to organize primaries to select between the two.
While speaking to Campus Bee, Mayira Stuart clearly communicated that he cannot stand against his party (NUP) because he loves his party and he still needs it as he is building his political career.
‘’I thank you all for turning to vote Mugenyi Jastus as our official flag bearer for the National Unity Platform. We did not even have any invalid vote. Thank you for the love you have always showed us and thank you for standing with us to this far,’’ he said.
‘’I take this opportunity to endorse Mugenyi Jastus as our next Guild President. We share more in common than that what can divide us. Team Stuart is Team Jastus. Let’s all support Jastus with our spirits. We are bringing it home. We are the National Unity Platform,’’ he concluded.
MUST Guild elections will happen 21st January and 4th February 2022 for GRCs and Guild President respectively.
