The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Kampala Campus has thrown away two Guild Presidential aspirants for failing to meet the minimum requirements.
The two were booted out during the vetting process held yesterday. IUIU Kampala Campus Interim Guild President Mahad Sekanyama has confirmed the development to Campus Bee.
“Yes, the two have failed to meet the minimum requirements. They failed during Shura Committee. Shura Committee questions the basic religious knowledge of all the Guild Aspirants including the Guild Presidents,” Sekanyama who was part of the Shura Committee told Campus Bee.
Some students have questioned the criteria used to remove the aspirants from the race.
“This i s an islamic institution and we came here knowing it follows Islamic principles and doctrines, let’s just stop criticizing the decisions,” one student who supported the move lamented.
However, others are against the criteria used.
“Why don’t you just put out the qualities and qualifications that u want and save people from wasting time energy and resources only to be disappointed. People had already campaigned,” another student argued.
Meanwhile, the university is calling upon the students to apply for the posts.
The Islamic University in Uganda Kampala campus is expected to hold online guild elections on 25th September, 2021.
