It’s tenser, hotter and more unpredictable every other day as regards who will be the 18th Guild President of Kyambogo University.
A few weeks ago, Masuudi and Hanifa were the most popular candidates on the position of the Guild president. Now, Hanifa is not only invisible but unheard of as well. Masuudi too, is no longer aspiring on the NUP card but rather as independent. NUP primaries are due this Tuesday 8th February and everyone cannot wait.
Lamara Gloria now seems to be the owner of most of the Ladies’ hearts. The most popular and beautiful female candidate stealing everyone’s attention just by her graceful smile. Recently, she visited Pearl hall and promised the Ladies a pre valentine’s day cup of tea in their beds. Whispers in the air all around Banda are about Lamara Gloria being named as the candle light for the university. Everyone seems to believe she might bear the NUP flag come Tuesday.
With equal strength on the same card is Mandwa Elijah. The battleship for the party flag bearer has never been this tense.
Meanwhile, Tumwine Serge the FDC flag bearer and current Guild Speaker, is already high up. He is set to declare his candidature as he addressed the media today on issues of missing marks and sex for higher marks. And, he is also the reason behind the acceptance of bags in campus and campus premises.
On the other side, the NRM flag bearer Wycliffe Amwesiga has vowed to kick NUP out of Kyambogo since the current Guild President John Mbazira of NUP is said to have done nothing in his term of office.
What makes the race for Guild president more unpredictable is that a few days ago, Emanzi Ronald the ANT flag bearer registered his name after he organized Emanzi cup for all students that went on successfully.
Today, he has started his campaign in places of worship and all he promises to speak the truth, truth of the students. He promises that as long as he becomes the guild president, there won’t be an increment of tuition by 20% like it is being planned by the administration. The Guild house is set to announce the date of choosing the Electoral commission this week.
