The Electoral Commission of Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Nakawa has released an official statement following the suspension Guild elections which happened on 22nd December 2021.
The elections were suspended with only 14 minutes to closure when police fired teargas to disperse angry students who had surrounded polling stations. It is alleged that there were candidates who were bringing non university students to vote while others were engaging in ballot stuffing.
The EC has officially revealed that fresh elections will be conducted in the due course and warned candidates from spreading wrong information trying to get sympathy from students.
It should be remembered that one of the guild presidential contestant alleged that he was not included in the registrar and he was not allowed to vote. However, the EC has trashed these allegation citing that all candidates and the eligible voters were all included in the register.
Four candidates were in the race and these included; Nimrod Kakayu, Valentine Jr.O, Joseph Anthony Bagumirabingi and Kiyega Rogers
