Mugyenyi Jastus, a fourth-year medical student at Mbarara University of Science and Technology has been declared as the official National Unity Platform (NUP) flag bearer in the forthcoming Guild elections.
Earlier today, delegates in the MUST NUP chapter participated in the party primaries to select the official flag bearer for the party. Two candidates participated in the primaries; Mayira Stuart and Mugyenyi Jastus. Out of the 69 cast votes, Jastus and Stuart scooped 49 and 18 votes respectively.
Jastus is set to compete with other candidates such as Beda Witness (NRM), Muyanja Isaac and Mugambe Victor.
By the time of publication, Stuart and his team had not yet revealed their next step whether to support Jastus or to come as an independent candidate.
MUST students will go for polls on 4th February 2022 to vote for their next Guild President.
