Today, the electoral commission of Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) led by Niwaha Dan has successfully nominated four candidates to contest on the post of Guild president.
The nomination process started as early as 9:30 am with Mugenyi Jastus of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Mugambe Victor of the Uganda Youth Democrat (UYD) followed at exactly 10am. Beda Witness of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and Muyanja Isaac who is on an independent ticket were nominated 11am and 12 noon respectively.
After nomination, the four candidates were allowed to kick start their official campaigns while following the standard operating procedures set by the ministry of health.
Candidates were also cautioned to follow campaigning rules and respect each other.
For the first time in MUST History, only two faculties have candidates in this years’ guild elections. Faculty of Medicine which is represented by Muyanja Isaac and Mugenyi Jastus while Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (Kihumuro campus) is represented by Beda Witness and Mugambe Victor.
The candidates have to campaign till 4th February when the guild elections are scheduled to happen.
