History was made this week on 9th Febraury 2022 at Mbarara University of science and Technology (MUST) when Nagawa Hellen was successfully elected as the 33rd Guild Speaker.
Nagawa Hellen is a third-year student pursuing a bachelor of pharmacy in the faculty of medicine and as well doubles as the Guild Representative councilor (GRC) for pharmacy in the guild house.
The speakership race attracted two candidates; Nagawa Hellen and Sabath Belson in which Nagawa scoped 47 votes against Sabath’s 27.
In her speech, Nagawa promised to empower GRCs and faculty associations to make MUST shine in several aspects such as health, sports, academics, welfare.
Arikiriza Denis who is the GRC for Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Livelihoods was elected the deputy speaker with 38 votes.
At the same event, the Guild President elect, Mugenyi Jastus Kizito presented his executive members before the house for ratification. Sabath Belson was later on appointed as the Prime Minister in the 33rd MUST Guild Government
