Soroti University has officially ushered in the maiden students’ Guild leadership today, April12, 2022.
“Soroti University guild cabinet. Soroti University pioneer guild cabinet has today been sworn in. The guild president is Mr. Abwongoto John who won the recent guild elections. Congratulations students,” the institution notified.
The students’ at Soroti University in Eastern Uganda went into polls on Saturday 12th March to elect the first-ever guild leaders.
The guild presidential race attracted two candidates from the faculty of Medicine and these included Abwongoto; declared the winner after collecting the highest number of votes against his competitor Stanley.
The second year student of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery became the first Guild President of the University since its establishment.
In June 2015, the government of Uganda, officially gazetted Soroti University as a public institution.
The university admitted the first cohort of students on 17th August 2019.
