Gearing for new experience as Blankets and Wine moves to Lugogo Cricket Oval for its 14th Edition

For years, Blankets and wines has housed music lovers at the Uganda Museum since its inception in 2011 for the biggest picnic styled music festival on Uganda’s social calendar.

The 14th edition of Blankets and Wine, set to be headlined by successful South African bandMafikizolo, will be ushering the music festival into its new home at the Lugogo Cricket Oval. The grounds are a perfect match for the increasing and growing numbers that Blankets and Wine has managed to attract over the thirteen editions of its existence.

With ample spaceand secure grounds, people won’t have to worry about the distance from their cars to where the show will take place. The Lugogo Cricket Oval also possess easier accessibility from different directions around town, hence creating an easier and more accessible route for people.

In the past thirteen editions, several artistes like Mi Casa, Freshly Ground, Liquideep, Eric Wainana, Zahara, Uhuru, and Oliver Mtukudzi among others have graced Kampala with their exhilarating performances. Through Blankets and Wine, Tusker Malt Lager has given birth to an era of people that truly appreciate Afro music and enjoy the experience of live performances.

Speaking on behalf of the official sponsor of Blankets and Wine Tusker Malt Lager’s Brand Manager Mr. Alex Tusingwire said; “The move to a better and spacious venue has been prompted by the ever increasing numbers of music enthusiasts in our country.”

“Year after year, Blankets and Wine has sold out and grown its base to a capacity that is undeniably a force to reckon with, the numbers are breath taking and we at Tusker Malt Lager, are more than ready to bring them more celebrated artists around the continent.” He added.

South Africa’s favorite and arguably the best musical duo of the past decade, Mafikizolo, will be headlining Blankets and Wine Kampala alongside urban gospel burgeoning singer and songwriter Levixone, multi-instrumentalist Giovanni Kiyingi, Nairobi based deejay, DJ Saint Evo and Qwela Band.

A quarterly, picnic style music festival, Blankets and Wine is East Africa’s premier music experience, designed to showcase outstanding musicians in the emerging genres of afro-based music.

Entrance fee is 100,000 UGX at the Lugogo Cricket Oval and gates open at 12:00pm on Sunday 25th September, 2016.

In line with its support for responsible drinking, Tusker Malt Lager will be maintaining a strict ‘over 18 only’ policy for sale of alcohol.
