DAVID PHOCUS
What all youth do at the night clubs, to them it’s a breadwinner. Dancing is a self -expression limitless of age, one is indicted to groove thanks to the lyrical miracle from our current genre of
music. A dance crew that is storming airwaves, the next Jabbawockees in town.
Meet Ntembe Dennis, Bukenya Cedric, Sembatya David and Muhammed Usher are the chaps that form a dance crew “HTC; Here to Change”. All yet to be campusers but who have made their name during their senior vacation with the urge to express themselves in the grooving world. Dennis alias Dtrix way back in 2013 came up with the idea of HTC and indulged his childhood friend Cedric
alias Cedo gifted with talent both old boys of Namilyango College and St Joseph’s Naggalama respectively, to dance. The idea was quite exquisite and convinced David alias Dvd and Usher from Seeta High and Crane
High to come together and thus the birth of HTC.
HTC does all types of dances namely; breakdance, dancehall, Lingala, b-boy, house and even hip-hop!
This is not just any group, that is about to fade away anytime soon like many high school crews. HTC has
travelled a milestone featuring on the Maurice Kirya tour in February, Talent for Cancer at the
National Theatre, Miss Teen 2015, and exclusively won the IUEA Vac Challenge. They have also
contested on the Sakata Mashariki dance competition vying to represent Uganda on the east African
dance competition. They have also featured on television interviews with Xpozed, Tnation on NTV and
Spotlyt on UBC TV.
Currently on a school tour expressing flawless moves on the dancefloor at many schools Seeta High,
Namilyango College, Mt St Mary’s Namagunga, Taibah high school, East High School and Crane High among many of a few yet to be dazzled with talent.
These four yet-to-be campusers have also been blessed with brains, with three of them Dennis,
Usher and Cedric on government sponsorship yet to join Makerere University and David to join
Makerere University Business School under their respective courses. With such determination not
even the sky is the limit. HTC dancing its way to the top.
