Mirinda resumes Comedy tour across the country

KAMPALA, Thursday, July 16, 2015: Mirinda, a leading brand of Crown Beverages Limited, the home of the best quality soft drinks in Uganda, has today announced that it will resume the Mirinda Comedy tour across the country from July 18th to September 25th, 2015.  Mirinda has invested a sum of shs. 300 million in the project.

The tour which will begin in Jinja and Mbarara consecutively will see the country’s most lauded acts in standup comedy such Salvado, Kapale, Arthur Da Vaccine, Mad Rat, Amooti, Alex Muhangi, Dolibondo, Chico, Snake and Zolo, Ronnie Macvex, who will battle it out for the crown of the king of Mirinda Comedy.

According to Mr. Timothy Luzinda, Mirinda Brand Manager, the tour will also create an opportunity for new talent in selected districts to perform on stage and stand a chance to be recruited into the entertainment industry.

“This year, we are coming on bigger and better with the Mirinda Comedy Tour. We have planned to storm 12 districts across the four regions with the creme of comedy in the country. This weekend, we shall be at The Heat in Mbarara and at the same time we’ll be at Laftaz comedy lounge in Jinja”, Luzinda said.

“There will also be an opportunity for those who believe they have got the talent to showcase what they can do in front of hundreds of comedy fans. This could be their turning point and entry into the industry as well.”

He further added that the tour is in line with the Mirinda brand DNA which is fun, youthful, bold and spontaneous among other things.

“Comedy is part of our brand DNA. As Mirinda, we believe it’s not enough for our brands to just say something, they also have to live it,” he added.

During the tour, comedians will be expected to storm schools, supermarkets, bars and other nightspots. Fans will be treated to a number of activities such as a lucky dip where fans can win Mirinda Freebies, music battles among other entertaining activities.

Speaking on behalf of the organizers- Jonathan Kyeyo, proprietor of Laftas comedy expressed his gratitude towards Mirinda for the continued support towards the comedy industry and promised outstanding performances from his crew.

“We have come a long way in the comedy industry and much of our success is attributed to the continued support we get from Mirinda and for that, we are entirely grateful. As such, I can promise you that this year’s Mirinda Comedy Tour is going to be like no other and the best of its kind. The comedians are ready to crack your ribs like never before and we are very excited about the tour,” Kyeyo said.

Entrance fee to the show in Jinja will go for shs5, 000 ordinary and shs10,000 VIP while i
n Mbrarara entrance will be shs15,000 and will be accompanied with an ice cold Mirinda at the entrance.
