Spark TV, NTV’s sister station hosted a ladies night on Women’s Day to celebrate their female viewers and Ugandan women. Announcements were made on Spark TV and a challenge was set up that had tickets to the party as the ultimate prize. Spark TV is the first female centric TV channel on the market and was launched late last year.
The event that took place at Guvnor was a meet and greet for viewers to interact with their favorite TV personalities. Some of NTV and Spark TV popular female personalities like Faridah Nakazibwe, Bettinah Tiana, Agnes Nandutu, Sara Kisawuzi, Toto; to mention but a few, were in attendance and mingled freely with their fans.
Party goers had a red carpet experience similar to those seen at the Grammy’s, as a red carpet was set up at the entrance to the club complete with cameras and a female TV host. Ladies in attendance dazzled with carefully put together outfits to suit the club scene. On entry into the club, ladies were handed a cocktail and allowed to move around the club and mingle.
Emcees Bettinah and Toto kept the crowd engaged with fun games such as dance competitions that had prizes attached to them. There was also a karaoke competition that saw party goers sing their favorite songs and enter a competition to be voted singer of the night.
Speaking at the event, NTV’s Managing Director, Aggie Asiimwe Konde said, “It’s fitting that all women are celebrated on Women’s Day and we thought it was only right to reward our female Spark TV viewers with a ladies night out at one of Kampala’s top night spots and give them a memorable experience that they will not forget. Spark TV was set up to cater to the entertainment needs of the Ugandan woman. We are committed to providing fresh, exciting and entertaining content to our female viewers”.
At about 10p.m., activity came to a halt as the movie “With this ring” was screened. The movie is a 2015 comedy/drama film featuring actors Jill Scott, Eve, Regina Hall and Gabrielle Union. All in all, it was a night of elegance, fun and fine drinking for the ladies in attendance; a befitting way to spend Women’s Day.
