Kyambogo University students will surely never let you down on any event that you stage at their premises given it’s FREE! Owing to that, freshers, continuing students, finalists, graduates and holiday makers were at it again as they flocked the eastern gate pitch where the Freshers Ball was slated to take place. By around 8;30 pm before any performances started.
Students and Banda dwellers that have an aspiration for music were monetarily given chance to perform their tracks but these were only curtain raisers for the main acts that were lined up for the night. Those dancing for freebies too had their time to shine too.
Pulling off a first one was Hip-Hop Luga-Flow based rapper Saint Nelly-sade who stepped on stage to throw a few vibes of what he’s best at. The rapper had freestyle linguistic raps that left Kyambogo University students chanting to his Luga-Flow prowess.
Cavendish part-time student Khalifah Aganaga brought energy to the ball when he stepped on stage and gave a thrilling performance. He literally performed all his hit songs and when he chipped those that the students were not familiar with, they simply looked on.
The highlight act of the night was comedian Afande KereKere who breathed in humor in the ill-organised freshers ball. He sent chilly rib-cracking jokes that gave the students a fine laugh and a chance to look younger.
At about 10:28pm, singer Leila Kayondo made her way on stage performing a few songs and stepping off on realising that Kyambogo University students were not about to cheer on despite her endless calls for wild noise.
The energy was again brought back when Singer Mun G stepped on stage 15 mins later sending the crowd into wild cheers. The ‘Sejusa” singer performed some of his hit songs and when he asked Kyambogo students ‘Are you virgins?’ while performing his hit single, a deafening cheer came in from a front lady fan who was carrying a baby.
At about 11:30, Nutty Neithan made his way on stage with a rather low mood after a scuffle with security over his entry into the field. The “Bakuwe Kyonywa’ singer looked zonked and also found it hard to move the Kyambogo crowd which know only two of his songs. The ball ended at about midnight with a mini dance fest.
