The Makerere University drama and film 2021 class outdid itself in its recently produced short film dubbed Thee Thrill Seekers.
The short film is a tale of a new tough and wicked governor Mr. Chester who is turning the city of MUK upside down.
Mr. Chester, who is in charge both the judiciary and security, reshuffles all government officers and this disrupts Thomas Wells’ flow of events, putting them at opposite ends.
Wells’ siblings (Wells’ trio) have to find means of keeping in their drug dealing business despite Mr. Chester’s intervention.
Mr. Chester secretly uses Father Hughes to gather information and evidence about Thomas.
PRODUCTION
Thee Thrill Seekers is produced by Gerald Remmy Mwaka, directed by Lyam Joseph Muwonge with Levy Anyanzo as director of photography.
All acting and production is done by the drama and film class of 2021 under their class group Shakers and Movers.
The Birth
Gerald Mwaka says the film was created to put to practice what they have been taught in class.
“It was purposely created for us to put what we are taught in class into Practice by making short films and Skits, where directors, Producers, writers and actors and all the other departments in the film industry can practice in,” he said.
He says the storyline was specifically crafted for a modern, non African kind of film.
“We didn’t want something that is traditional about a Uganda films. And so, we felt this would give us that challenge to propel and Explore new grounds in the film industry,” he says.
The group will be realising a continuation of the short film in a few weeks to come.
