On Monday evening, top deejays who were emerged winners in the just concluded UG Mix Maestro campaign received their prize money. The campaign was organized by the DJ Association of Uganda in partnership with Uganda Waragi.
The UG Mix Maestro campaign sought to recognize and celebrate the unique talent that deejays have to offer. The countrywide campaign featured a number of activities like bar activations, in-store special promotional offers, house parties and regional deejay battles.
Among the notable winners were Charlie Lubega (Outstanding Achievement Award), Selector Jay (TV DJ of the Year), Easy Samuel (Gospel DJ), Dj Nimrod (Radio DJ of the year), Moustey DJ (Events DJ of the year and DJ Roja and Slick Stuart (Night life DJ of the Year).
Each of the DJ’s received UGX1 million shillings as prize money on top of the accolades they received at the awards night held a month ago.
While speaking at the event. Uganda Waragi Brand Manager, Agaba Tumusiime said “The Spirit of Uganda celebrates all things Ugandan and our unique heritage. Music is a huge part of how we express ourselves as a people and we are glad to have enabled a platform such as this that allowed the outstanding DJ talent we have to be recognized and celebrated.”
The UG Mix Maestro campaign set out to explore and recognize talent, set a foundation to professionalize the Ugandan DJ industry and celebrate and honor DJ’s contribution to Uganda’s music industry.
